A Little Cup of Love

I am so happy today!  I spent the whole morning at my desk just cutting, gluing and creating.  And when I finished this page I felt like I had accomplished something. (Of course, now I have to clean up my mess, but that will get done . . . soon!)

This week's Journal 52 Prompt was to use found poetry. The words that I chose were picked while I drank my morning cup of tea and then the teapot just jumped onto the page along with them!

I started with some scrapbook paper that looks like blank sheet music from the Crate Paper Flea Market by Maggie Holmes.  I used stencils, ink and paint to create a background.

I cut out the shapes I wanted for my picture.  Then I glued them down with gel medium onto the background paper.

Doodles, some rub-ons and outlining to finish it off!   The great thing about using my Donna Downey Inspiration Journal is the fact that each page has an extra little piece of paper in the middle.  I used this extra piece of paper to put the poetry words onto.

My New Camera Bag and an Altered Challenge for you!!!

I bought this plain Donna Downey camera bag this winter with the plan to alter it!!  Every time I used it all plain looking, I would come up with grand plans of paint splashes and modeling paste shapes.  I pulled out my bucket of embellishments, my Linnie Shapes and my Donna Downey flowers and letters JUMPED right out of at me.  They were perfect, I could color up the canvas shapes and match them to the colorful flowers that I had in the pile.

It was play day at my local scrapbook store (shout-out to Altered Angel in Alpharetta GA, love my girls!) so I packed up the bag and the embellishments and headed out. In fact, these next few pictures were taken on my Ipod because I was working at the store - so excuse the quality!!

I sprayed up the butterflies with Dylusions and a stencil.

I glued the flowers and canvas Linnie Blooms' shapes down with Helmar 450.

So here is my tip of the day:  Before I glue anything down, I always take a picture of what I have planned.  This is because I have the worst short term memory . . . and the minute I move them . . . I forget where they were placed!! SO take a picture when you think you have the plan ready to go!!  Then you can look at the picture for reference as you glue!!

And voila! I took the bag home, sat on the deck and took some pictures of my camera's much prettier home!!

I hope I have inspired you to brighten up something that is just too plain!!  Come and join the Altered Bag Challenge over at Eclectic Paperie!

When I Grow Up ...

The Journal 52 prompt this week is When I Grow UP!! So, here is my journal page - I want to travel when I grow up, I always have.  Just pack it all into a camper and go . . .

I used my new Simple Stories Daily Grind Paper.  I LOVE it!  I love how there are great designs as well as more solid paper colors that coordinate.  They work great for me!  I also used Tim Holtz Remnant Rub-ons for the words.  They were perfect for this page!

I started the background with a copied map of Georgia and painted it teal with Silks Acrylic Glaze.  The Silks are transparent so you can see what is under them - I really like this property!  I tore up some of the green paper from the paper pack and created the 'grass.'

I 'built' the camper with paper piecing.  Then I glued it all together, journaled on the little tag and stamped it up!!

Thank you so much for stopping by!! Be sure to say "Hi!" in the comments and let me know what you want to be when you 'grow-up!'

My Love Notes!

This week, the Journal 52 challenge is Love Notes.  Easy, my girls are my Love Notes.

I started out with Dylusions, a stencil and a stamp.

Then I found some cute paper, a little bit of textured ribbon and one of my favorite pics of my girls!  (Actually, this is the picture that I took for my Christmas cards this year, they just never got sent out!)

I took out the heart embellishments made out of modeling paste and gelatos.  I had a few left from here but they were the wrong color for this page.  So I took a brush, dipped it into the Dylusions and 'painted' the hearts to match! Yummy fun!

I added a Wendy Vecchi Square Frame Art Part Piece.  I inked it and added some little white hearts with a stamp.

And there, I have a scrapbook page in my art journal!!  I can't believe it!!

Now, we are going to have a winter weather event here in Atlanta, again, and I can't believe that either!! But I hope to use the time to add more pics into the art! My little love notes' school has already been cancelled for the next two days, so that might be a little bit of a challenge, but I am up for it!!

Make sure to leave a comment if you stop by, I LOVE to 'hear' your voices!!

(PS. If you want to know more about the modeling paste hearts, be sure to stop by my blog post here!

Some Sunshine on a cloudy day!

So, I am SO excited to be a guest designer for Faber Castell; Design, Memory, Craft ...  but I have been so SO art blocked!! They sent an amazing box of goodies ... so many new goodies that I shut down.  I couldn't think of a thing to do.  But luckily, I had my Journal 52 prompt for the week, abstract.  Now, I don't really do abstract very well ... but I just started playing and thinking about the sun.  This is my abstract sunny day.  I used the yellows to cheer me up and didn't use my usual greens and blues and pinks ... so this really is abstract for me!!

Stamped up some paper with Wendy Vecchi Stamps!

Added a few more stamps and a stencil with paint ...

Used Faber Castell Paper Crafter Crayons to draw the 'sun!'

Added a couple of quotes, doodles and stamps and done ... some Sunshine!
