A few more blocks ...

I am becoming addicted to wood blocks!!  I made three new ones this week!  One, is a redo of my favorite church that I recently made on pallet wood! I used tissue paper, crackle paste, inks, scrapbook paper, ribbon, buttons, paper, canvas, burlap and paint ... just so much fun to make!!

And here are their 'flipsides!'

And A Little More Christmas in November!!

I have been having so much fun in my art room getting ready for Christmas! I am not really sure where the inspiration has come from because it has been so unseasonably warm here in Atlanta.  But I love this little tree that I made this week! My kids called it the Charlie Brown Tree, and I think they might be right.  Who doesn't love the little Charlie Brown though?!

I started with a plain cut piece of wood from one of our house projects.  I washed it with gray paint and water to age the wood.

After the wash dried, I sprayed Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Distress Ink to add sparkle and extra aging to the wood panel.

Corrugated brown paper and some painted green leftover paper from another project created the tree. I used Christmas scrapbook paper to cut the ornaments out of a Christmas pattern.

Some string, doodling and stickers to finish up! I also, added a leather strap to hang the block up with on the wall, but of course I forgot to take a picture of that!

I also made a little elf to go with last week's Santa.  I just recently started selling some of my projects at an amazing local store called American Redemption. So this little elf is going to be there next to his matching Santa!  I just love the store and I am honored to be there as one of their local Artists!

And then a Pinterest-made-me-do-it project!!  I saw a project like this one using all different colors.  When I saw this paper (at Target of all places!) I thought this gold and brown paper would be awesome on a black board.  And it turned out pretty well, I just forgot to take a really well-lit picture of it!! But it was fun!

Whew!! What have you been working on?  Are you working on your Mixed Media Monthly Challenge?? I hope so!!

And now my project for the challenge ....

This all started with a simple sketch.  I used a wood base for the canvas, lots of paint, paper, burlap and twine!!

I painted the wood with white, titan buff golden paints and a crackle medium for Viva.

And then the dog jumped into my lap and then proceeded to climb out of my lap on the desk ... he really didn't want me to work!!

So, come play!! We have such a good time and learn so much from other mixed media artists ... The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!!
