The Mixed Media Challenge #40 - Vintage!

And here we are ... September! Wow, 2017 just hasn't stopped to take a break, it just keeps going by faster and faster!  I think I have been busier and happier this summer than our usual summer breaks so I will be sad to say Good-bye to summer.  But on the other hand, FALL, is really my favorite season of all!!  Football, cool evenings and this Awesome Vintage Challenge will be a perfect fall fit for me!

So, here is the challenge for the month ... Vintage! MY FAV!!  I love vintage!! Come and play with us ... grab some paper, some paint, some glue, anything and get your hands messy!

Our awesome sponsor this month is The Funkie Junkie Boutique!  I love this shop - I always find something that I want, something that I need and something different that I ... now need!! So visit the shop and enjoy!! And if you play along with us, one lucky, random winner will win a gift certificate to The Funkie Junkie Boutique (too bad I can't win!!)

And here is my project ...

So this canvas began while I was listening to a woman - her name is Cecilia Stoll - on an Arbonne phone call ... she was simply divine and inspiring.  And one of the things she said was ... "Be in Love with the Journey."  It struck me as something I needed to do ... we can go with the journey, we can get caught up in the journey and we can find joy in the journey too.  But to be in LOVE with the journey, to embrace the good and the bad, and to stick with it and take care of it like you would if you loved someone ... that was a way I had never thought of a journey.  SO, I doodled it on my desk ... and pulled out some of my favorite new things and some that I had never even used before and got to work!

I started with paper from 7 Gypsies Maritime Collection.

The background needed to start the vintage vibe ... although at the end you barely see any of this, I know it was part of the journey!

Then I pulled out the rest of the 7Gypsies Maritime Paper and covered the canvas.  When the paper was down, the texture was added with Architextures Adhesive and transfers.

Then the crazy part - I had this wax seal ... well the package has been sealed forever ... but I got brave and opened it! I lit the wick and melted the wax and LOVED it!  And then I dripped little bits of gold wax all over the canvas!  I think this could be a new part of my canvases in the future!!

Yummy-ness warning here ... Glimmer glaze in Aloha Green ... I shouldn't tell you about it because I want all of it! I want to buy bottles and bottles of this color ....

And then I was almost done ... some extra doodles, added hearts of paper and burlap and splatters to finish it off!  And now it is hanging in the middle of my wall above my desk!! So go ... and find what it takes to be In Love with The Journey wherever it is that you are going!
