This was a super fun mess but I loved the outcome!!  I used a white gesso, streaked on with a credit card.  Then after it dried, I smeared on blue teal Fantasy Moon by Pebeo.  After it dried I added rub-ons, stickers, tinsel ribbon and glitter washi tape! Had so much fun!

Here is my one layer, watercolor tree!! Last year, I fell in love with silver tip trees! I love the way the tree trunk shows through the needles!!  So, I water-colored the tree, used a silver star sticker and Tim Holtz rub-ons.  I used distress ink around the tree to give the watercolor paper a vintage feel.  It is a challenge to not build layers because that is what I love to do when I create.  But I loved the way I had to think ahead to build with one layer only!! Loved this challenge!

Love these trees!!

This is my Christmas Angel!! I started with a well weathered extra large square of wood.  I drew on my angel, painted her with crackle paint and acrylic and used pens to highlight.  The background is just gesso scraped on with a credit card.

I wrote the bible verse on tissue paper and then glued it down with matte medium.

I have been having a hard time getting anything to look like right lately.  When I sit down at my desk, there are a thousand things that I need to do running through my head and I seem to have lost a little art mojo .... luckily, the 5 for 5 Challenges keep me on my toes  ... here is my Glitter challenge!!

At first, I drew the Believe and wanted to emboss it with glitter but it didn't turn out well.  I had a red background and a mess.  So I used gesso to clean the background.  I scraped it a little to let the red show through.  Then I mixed glitter into matte medium and spread it all over the white.  I used the red paint though mixed with light modeling paste to rewrite Believe.  I added a couple of embellishing stickers, outlined the letters and put the canvas into a silver frame!  It might not be perfect, but it looks really good sitting on my mantle!!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #19 - Silver and Gold!

Welcome back for this month's Mixed Media Monthly Challenge!  This month the challenge is an awesome Silver and Gold!!  Plus, the fact that we all had the chance to use Indigo Blu Flitter Glu and their Mega Flakes!! SO much fun and such amazing results!!  You want to win an Indigo Blu Flitter Glu set!!

Here is my project for this month!  I used the flakes in the background, with a stencil.  I also used the flakes to gild the bells and the ribbon!!

I started off with some easy bell shapes - I thought they would just be perfect for Silver and Gold! (And yes, the whole time I was making this project I was singing Silver and Gold from the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie!!)

I painted the background with Indigo Blu Acrylic Paint, Townhouse Teal and Frosty Sky! I also mixed in a little Interference for sparkle, but the flakes really stole the show

I used an ornament stencil.  I used the flitter glu phat foam to apply through the stencil.  Then I used the silver from the Manchester Tart mix to make the stencil shine!

I added the flitter glu and and flakes to the bells - SO shiny!!

Then I made the ribbon paper, doodled and added the wording!! I had a blast making this! And it looks fantastic on my wall!!

Make sure to play with us this month!!  Take a break from the crazy, stressful holiday season and create with us!! Click here to come to the challenge!
